The 71st World Foundry Congress -- Call for Papers

The Scientific Committee of the 71st World Foundry Congress has officially announced the “Call for Papers” for the most important international technical event of the Metal-Mechanic industry, which under the theme “Advanced Sustainable Foundry” will take place in the city of Bilbao, Spain, between 19th-21st of May 2014.

The abstracts should be written in English, summarize the work carried out and provide the main conclusions and findings as well as the significance of the work to the industry.

Abstracts should be limited to 500 words and contain only text; no figures or tables should be included. The text shall be typed using 12 points Arial in a single line spacing. The closing date for sending the abstracts has been extended due to request from Associations and companies. Therefore, there is a new deadline abstract submission: 28th June 2013. The main objective is to encourage the participation of companies, universities and technological centres.

The papers must be written in English and are sought on the following working areas:
- Environment and sustainability.
- Cast Iron (spheroidal, lamellar and vermicular graphite cast iron, austempered ductile iron and alloyed irons).
- Cast Steel.
- Non ferrous and light alloys (aluminium, magnesium, titanium, other non-ferrous alloy developments and metal matrix composites).
- Foundry technologies, manufacturing equipments, robotics and automation.
- Energy.
- Advanced engineering: design, calculation and simulation tools.
- Heat, cryogenic and surface treatments.
- Moulding, core making and rapid prototyping technologies.
- Pattern and tool making.
- Management, education and training.

Key dates

Please find below the expected key dates for the presentation, assessment and definitive approval of technical papers. All applications and required documentation must reach the organisation by the deadlines given.

Submission of abstracts: 28th June 2013
Abstract acceptance and notification to authors: 29th July 2013
Submission of full paper: 29th November 2013
Definitive paper approval: 31st January 2014

Authors are requested to register their submission through their national World Foundry Organization representatives. A full directory of international members is available on the webpage www.thewfo.com . For countries that do not belong to the World Foundry Organization, abstracts should be submitted directly to the following email address: papers@71stwfc.com before 28th of June 2013.
The selection of the papers shall be carried out by the 71st World Foundry Congress Scientific Committee in accordance to the WFO and the Congress Organization guidelines. Abstracts will be reviewed for technical and scientific merit according to the above mentioned guidelines, Preliminary acceptance of abstracts shall be communicated to the author/s before 29th of July 2013.
After abstracts acceptance, authors are requested to send the full written papers by 29th November 2013.

Young researchers

The 71st World Foundry Congress will also promote the participation of young researchers, technicians and PhD students, offering them the opportunity to assume an active role and to present their research works in this specialised international technical event. A special “Best Young Researcher Award” will recognise the best paper among participants.
